Swords are the melee weapon category in
Blox Fruits, in the game since Update 1. They are contact weapons that you buy, get dropped from a boss, or unlock by completing a puzzle, and you find them absolutely everywhere. They rely on precise, close-range attacks that hit hard. Each sword has two unique abilities, and some borrow their effects from the Blox Fruit they're inspired by. All can be upgraded at the
Blacksmith and enchanted at the
Dragon Talon Sage.
How to get it
Four main ways:
- Buy the sword from an NPC.
- Get it dropped from a boss.
- Complete a puzzle or quest, though in practice these are often boss drops too.
- Unique case of the
Dark Blade: it comes through a
Game Pass, which you purchase with Robux, receive as a gift, or trade for.
The five rarities
The source announces 42 swords in the game, and the breakdown by rarity adds up exactly to that total: 3 + 5 + 9 + 19 + 6 = 42.
| Count | What it's worth | |
|---|---|---|
| 3 | The weakest and cheapest, for low levels | |
| 5 | Still weak, with one exception: | |
| 9 | Solid without reaching the tiers above, with a few really good blades in the mix | |
| 19 | Strong, effective for both farming and PvP, and very popular in PvP | |
| 6 | The rarest, considered the best swords in most cases |
If you find a different total in an old guide, that's normal: the number of swords changes with each update that adds one.

Upgrading and Enchanting
- Blacksmith: he upgrades swords in exchange for materials to make them hit harder.
- Dragon Talon Sage: he applies the enchantments. Depending on which enchantment you choose, you gain extra damage or a special ability.
Interactions to Know
- No sword, and none of their abilities, can damage a
Blade fruit user: it's a passive immunity to swords, and
Aura doesn't change that. Some sword abilities can still stun-lock them though.
Bosses armed with a sword, on the other hand, bypass all immunities. The Chef, who uses Blade, is a half exception: he only has a one in three chance of being hit.- Koko is the only sword boosted by a fruit other than
Buddha, and that fruit is
Control: in the Control Area, its range and area of effect rise significantly. - The Buddha transformation enlarges the sword and the area of effect of its M1. M1 damage drops slightly, but the gain in defense and area more than compensates. Some sword abilities are not affected by the transformation, for example those of the Midnight Blade.
- With Aura active, some high-rarity swords start to glow, like the Cursed Dual Katana.
- Many swords have
Destructible Physics, as do many
Guns, fruits, and fighting styles. - Some require a minimum level, for example Tushita from Lv. 2000 onwards.
- At high rarity, especially Legendary and Mythical, swords deal more raw damage than fruits, M1 included. The source sees this as compensation for their reduced number of abilities and lower mobility.
- On console, swords appear in the action bar by their name.
