Buddha

LegendaryBeast

Buddha is THE farming fruit. It transforms you into a giant golden Buddha scaled to your avatar, about 3 times larger, that takes very little damage and strikes at an absurd range with any sword or fighting style - it's the number one choice for grinding levels, mastery, dungeons, raids and Sea Events, in both Second and Third Sea. Watch out for one key point: Buddha form doesn't increase your damage, only your range and defense. In PvP it's considered overpowered, especially with the Cursed Dual Katana, but its slowness and huge hitbox make it an easy target for anything that deals ranged damage.

How to get it

Buddha is purchased for 1,200,000 Beli or 1,650 Robux from the Blox Fruit Dealer when it's in rotation (check the live block below), and it can also drop from the Dealer's gacha. The Fandom judges it as not too difficult to obtain for what it's worth, and it holds good trading value.

Base

KeyMovePreviewDescription
Z Transform
Mas. 1
A column of yellow light envelops you and you become a giant golden Buddha scaled to your Roblox avatar, about 3 times larger than your normal form. This is necessary to use the fruit's other moves, and awakened moves aren't usable in this form. If your avatar has no skin, you simply become a giant version of yourself. Nearly instant transformation with almost no endlag, but it deals no damage: it's the only move in the base set that doesn't break Instinct. The Fandom gives it 3 cooldown for 15 energy.
cooldown 3s · energy 15
X Impact
Mas. 1
You charge a ball of light in your right hand then place your palm on the ground: a large explosion launches nearby enemies. Good area, good damage and good knockback, and the move breaks Instinct, but it dodges on the edge of the explosion. Its main flaw is the long charge time followed by big endlag, with a hitbox that stays small: you're very exposed during the entire animation. The Fandom gives it 8.5 cooldown for 25 energy. It was reworked in Update 17.3.
cooldown 8.5s · energy 25 · breaks Instinct
C Buddha Leap
Mas. 100
You leap very high and far then land where your cursor points, with a shockwave on landing, except if you land in water. Allow about one second of endlag, except in water where endlag is completely canceled: jumping at the right moment lets you bounce, making travel between islands and escapes much simpler. Launched from a high point like the Upper Skylands, you keep falling until you hit a surface, giving it nearly infinite range. It breaks Instinct but dodges on the edge, is difficult to aim and can't be interrupted once launched. The Fandom gives it 13 cooldown for 35 energy, and compares it to the F move of Mammoth and T-Rex.

V Buddha Explosion
Mas. 200
You charge for half a second then release a large explosion around you: heavy damage and knockback to everything nearby. It breaks Instinct but dodges on the edge of the explosion. Devastating in a confined space like Remote Island or Tiki Outpost, where targets have nowhere to go. On the other hand, big endlag that leaves you punishable, and strong knockback that scatters enemies instead of keeping them grouped. The Fandom gives it 21 cooldown for 50 energy.

Awakened

KeyMovePreviewDescription
Z Shift
Mas. 1
The awakened transformation: a giant golden Buddha surrounded by three rings of symbols and two squares of Chinese characters, with lightning striking the ground and pushing nearby enemies while dealing damage. You become large enough to walk on the sea floor, so you can dash, Flash Step and recover your Air Jumps. Your sword and melee M1s reach 8 times farther, you gain 45% damage reduction and a huge jump bonus, at the cost of reduced movement speed. Its flaws: the transformation is slightly long and leaves an opening, it hurts you badly if you launch it over lava, it can glitch you into the ground on thin terrain like the Skylands, and it has strong knockback with big endlag for a weak stun. The Fandom gives it 3 cooldown for 15 energy, and 500 Fragments to awaken.
cooldown 3s · energy 15 · breaks Instinct
X Heavenly Impact
Mas. 1
You concentrate energy in your right fist before hammering the ground: an eruption of golden light explodes at the impact point. This move doesn't hold. Its endlag is short, unlike the non-awakened version, making it a good counter when an opponent gets too close. Good damage and decent area, it breaks Instinct but dodges on the edge of the explosion, and its charge time remains long: you need to anticipate a bit to not miss. The Fandom gives it 8.5 cooldown for 25 energy, and 3,000 Fragments to awaken.
cooldown 8.5s · energy 25 · breaks Instinct
C Light of Annihilation
Mas. 100
You charge briefly then shoot a concentrated golden light beam toward your cursor. The beam pierces through multiple enemies, explodes on contact with a surface or at max range, and a target hit directly takes almost twice as much damage as from the explosion. Both the direct shot and explosion break Instinct, only an indirect beam hit can be dodged. Huge range and instant damage on direct shot (hitscan behavior), but the projectile visual takes time to arrive, about 0.4 seconds at max range: a missed shot at the start can still hit via the explosion. Flaws: one second of charge that makes you punishable, a thin line hitbox that complicates aerial targets, strong knockback on the explosion and notable endlag. The Fandom gives it 13.5 cooldown for 35 energy, 4,000 Fragments to awaken, and compares it to Dragon's Z.
cooldown 13.5s · energy 35 · breaks Instinct
V Twilight of the Gods
Mas. 200
You rise and bombard the ground with a rain of golden beams over a wide radius, which explode on contact and stun everything inside. After 3 seconds, an immense column of light crashes down and launches nearby enemies. This move doesn't hold. Gigantic area, excellent for gathering enemies, devastating in a confined low-ceiling space like the Mansion, and very effective against Rumbling Waters. Its limits: weak in the air, nearly useless out at sea (the beams need a surface to explode), inconsistent damage and stun, you stay vulnerable from above, and there's an opening between the end of the barrage and the final column. The beams travel in random directions, so you escape it fairly easily by the edge, running, sky camping or a well-placed Flash Step. The Fandom gives it 22 cooldown for 50 energy, and 5,000 Fragments to awaken.
cooldown 22s · energy 50 · breaks Instinct
F Retribution Dash
Mas. 1
A fast dash that leaves golden images behind you. If an enemy is in the way, you catch them almost instantly and slam them to the ground; the grab immobilizes you both for about 1.5 seconds, and you can move and jump during the execution. Excellent for launching or extending a combo, with good distance, and it catches even through a wall if you aim right and the target is in range. Its flaws: only one target, long cooldown, it doesn't break Instinct, the grab can't be dodged but the slam that follows can, it only aims horizontally, it has no i-frames and it pulls you toward the ground, making it nearly useless launched too high. It also does nothing on certain Sea Events like Sea Beasts. The Fandom gives it 15 cooldown for 30 energy, and 2,000 Fragments to awaken.
cooldown 15s · energy 30

Awakening

Full awakening costs 14,500 Fragments, earned in raids: 500 for Z, 2,000 for F, 3,000 for X, 4,000 for C and 5,000 for V. It unlocks the V2 set: an even more imposing transformation, damage reduction increased to 45% (54.6% against NPCs), M1 range multiplied by 8, walking on water, huge jump bonus and the Seismic Jump passive, all at the cost of reduced movement speed. Non-awakened moves remain usable in this form, while the reverse is impossible. By stacking Aura on your whole body you reach 61% total damage reduction (54% non-awakened); the Black Headband in awakened form gives 61% against players and 75% against NPCs; Shark V3 with the Leviathan Shield pushes defense up to 90% against melee, swords and guns, or 79.14% with Cyborg V3. Awakening at least one move unlocks the Colossal God title (#042).

Passives

Divine Aura

When transformed, you take 35% less damage (46% against NPCs), and even 45% once awakened (55% against NPCs). Your sword and melee M1 attacks reach 5 times further than a normal player (8 times when awakened). When awakened, your hitbox stays above water: you literally walk on the sea. However, Buddha form does not increase your damage.

Seismic Jump

Awakened only: each jump creates a small shock wave that deals light damage, stuns, and breaks Instinct (2 second cooldown). You also jump at least 2 times higher.

Combos 35

Combos from the official wiki (the fruit combined with swords, guns, fighting styles and races), sorted by effectiveness. The effectiveness (score out of 10) is estimated from the current PvP meta: fruit level, strength of the items used and stated damage. Remember to break the opponent's Instinct before starting, otherwise the combo won't land.

The combo should work-it might not always one-shot, but with the power of M1 spam, you should be able to prevail. Short Buddha Guide: - M1 Spam solos unless you're facing another transformation, Dragonstorm, ou Buddy Sword. -Track your enemy's Instinct/Observation: the average person has eight dodges, aka eight punches before they take damage. -If you're on top of them et they're dodging your M1 s, saut-it does damage et breaks instinct. -utilise flash steps, Buddha C, ou Buddha F to catch up to people running. -Spamming M1 in their face usually cancels maintenu moves like Godhuman C. -BigAL- Hard 6/10

Strengths and weaknesses

  • Huge damage reduction once transformed: 35% in V1, 45% awakened, and up to 54.6% against NPCs
  • Sword and melee M1 range multiplied by 5, and by 8 awakened, with any weapon
  • The best fruit in the game for farming: levels, mastery, dungeons, raids and Sea Events
  • Walking on water in awakened form, and the Seismic Jump passive breaks Instinct on every jump
  • Compatible with all builds: you keep swords, fighting styles and guns in Buddha form
  • Awakened moves with very large areas that break Instinct and cost little energy, useful in dungeons
  • Big jump bonus, and the C serves as backup movement with nearly infinite range from a high point
  • Launching the C into water cancels all its endlag: perfect for bouncing between islands or shaking off a pursuer
  • Darkbeard's C Black Hole can't reach you in awakened transformed form
  • Good trading value, and not that difficult to obtain for what it's worth
  • Very slow, with a giant hitbox: easy target for long-range attacks and large areas
  • The Z must be active before any other move, and none of the fruit's moves can be held
  • Buddha form doesn't increase your damage, only your range and defense
  • Unreliable in combos: many sword and fighting style moves don't work well in transformation
  • The X has a long charge time and big endlag, easy to punish, with a small hitbox in V1
  • Bad against sky campers, and the V loses almost all its value in the air or out at sea
  • Guns gain no bonus from the transformation: avoid playing main Gun with Buddha
  • Buddha raids are considered very difficult to complete
  • Violent screen shake on all moves, annoying in combos (can be disabled via Camera Shake option)
  • Ice easily counters it with combos including his C or V, and Gas fixes most of its flaws (speed, range, stuns)
  • Known bugs: gold rings on awakened Z invisible, interaction with NPCs broken when awakened, and transformation that can't pass through Cursed Ship doors

Our verdict

PvE10/10
PvP6/10

In PvE, nothing farms more comfortably than Buddha: grab it as soon as you can to level up and grind mastery without stress, keeping in mind that power comes from your M1s and defense, not the fruit's moves. The Fandom recommends putting points into Melee, Defense and Sword, since the range bonus mostly helps sword users; many players only awaken the Z, sometimes the F, which is enough for damage reduction and range. If you play main fighting style, the Ghoul race or Ghoul Mask returns 35% of damage you deal to a player and 7.5% against an NPC, enough to win an M1 spam duel. Against its slowness, rely on the Pilot Helmet, Dino Hood, Rabbit V2 or Agility if you're not in Third Sea, and note that Draco's V2 flight and Flash Step are greatly improved in Buddha form. In PvP it's frustrating to face with a good sword, to the point of often being judged as undeserving, but its slowness and huge size make it the perfect target for ranged fruits and long combos.
