Aura

Mechanic

Aura (Blox Fruits' Haki, formerly called Enhancement) covers your body in black armor that boosts your damage and defense, and most importantly allows you to hit elemental fruit users despite their Elemental Reflex. It's cheap and quickly pays for itself: it's the priority purchase for every new player.

How to get it

Buy it for 25,000 Beli from the Ability Teacher, in Frozen Village cave or at Magma Village. No official level required. To activate or deactivate it: press [J] on PC, down on D-Pad on console, punch button on mobile.

Leveling Your Aura

Aura has its own XP system. Two ways to earn it, each giving 1 XP per action:

  • Hit an enemy (NPC, player or boss) with Aura active, with a sword, gun or fighting style. Blox Fruits don't count, including "fruit swords" and M1s like Light's spear.
  • Get hit with Aura active (doesn't work if your Elemental Reflex absorbs the hit).

Your Aura progresses through 5 stages, each bringing a visual change and a buff. The game doesn't warn you when you pass a stage: disable then re-enable Aura to check, or change your stage in the Aura Editor.

At stage 5, you receive the "Iron Man" title (#071) and can learn Aura skin recipes from Barista Cousin. Skins are changed in your inventory's Aura menu, where some can also be bought in Robux.

The 5 stages and their buffs

The visual depends on your fighting style: with Dark Step or Death Step, the armor starts at the legs instead of the arms. The buffs from previous stages are kept at later stages.

StageVisual (FS arms / FS legs)BuffRequired XP
0Forearms / lower legs+10% damage on non-fruit attacks0 XP
1Full arms / full legs+21% damage on non-fruit attacks4,000 XP
2Full arms/legs + half torso-10% all damage taken (calculated before HP loss)12,000 XP
3Full arms/legs, torso and headAbout -18% damage taken24,000 XP
4Full arms/legs (top included), torso and headAbout -25% damage taken48,000 XP
5Entire bodyAbout -30% damage taken60,000 XP

Important notes

  • If you changed your visual stage in the Aura Editor before reaching stage 5, you won't see any more changes on your body: go back to the editor and re-select stages each time you want to check a level-up (by selecting stage 5, your real stage will show again).
  • Downgrading a stage's visual that's already unlocked removes no buffs: it's purely cosmetic.
  • Aura boosts sword, gun and fighting style damage.
  • Each melee hit given or received = 1 XP. Plan for about 8 hours of grinding total.

Tips to level up Aura fast

  • Buddha is very useful for general leveling: it encourages you to use swords and fighting styles, the main sources of Aura XP.
  • Auto-click (or click spamming) with a low-damage sword on low-level NPCs works great, even better with an Elemental fruit equipped to benefit from Elemental Reflex.
  • A private server and stat points in defense always help.
  • Dark Step's [X] and [C] moves hit multiple times: perfect for farming XP.

Best spots:

  • The Pirate Starter or Marine Starter islands, full of low-level enemies. Pirate Starter is highly recommended: Bandits spawn in groups of seven. Be careful when AFK, their hits have knockback and can easily knock you off the island.
  • The Jungle, where Monkeys cluster easily at the island's center, near the quest giver.

Aura skins (crafting)

Aura colors are crafted with Berries, which can grow in any bush on the map. There are 8 of them, present in every sea: Blue Icicle Berry, Green Toad Berry, Orange Berry, Pink Pig Berry, Purple Jelly Berry, Red Cherry Berry, White Cloud Berry and Yellow Star Berry. Example recipe: the Snow White color requires 10 White Cloud Berries. A color only changes the look: colored or not, your Aura gives the same buffs.

An example crafting screen, here for an Aura color recipe.

It's the Barista who crafts the colors. You find him only in Second Sea (at the Cafe) and Third Sea (at the Mansion). Recipes are obtained for free from the Barista Cousin, an NPC who appears from time to time, then crafted for Fragments. Some skins can even be crafted without a recipe from him.

Recipe RarityCraft Cost
Rare1,500 Fragments
Legendary7,500 Fragments

Did you know?

  • On some avatars, Aura changes hand position.
  • No connection between Aura and sea events: turning it off doesn't make more events appear at sea.
  • Light's spear and Ice's trident are visually affected by Aura. Same for all Rubber moves, Dough's awakened moves and Spider's awakened [V], which take your Aura's color.
  • All swords and all guns change color when a colored Aura is active. Some swords transformed with Buddha lose the effect on the other hand.
A gun changing color too while Aura is active.
A sword changing color while a colored Aura is active.
  • Glitch: with a Beast fruit, transform, activate Aura, then detransform while leaving it on. Your body no longer displays Aura (whatever your stage) but your swords and guns keep the effect - useful for trolling (doesn't work with Buddha transformation).
  • Aura skins can be obtained in First Sea from evening (party) gacha and are kept afterwards.
  • The Aquamarine color has never been obtainable again after the 10 billion visits event.
  • A recent bug changes your walking and dash animation when you equip full-body Aura.
