A combo is stringing together multiple attacks while keeping your opponent stunned to deal maximum damage, most often until K.O. It's THE foundation of advanced
Blox Fruits PvP, and it takes practice.
One item or multiple?
A combo can be done with a single item's moveset, but combining multiple items gives much better results: you pair one item's stun with another's heavy damage to create a devastating attack. In fact, you often equip items without allocating stat points to them, just for their stun or effect.
Countering a combo
Instinct is the most direct counter: it nullifies damage and stuns and leaves the attacker exposed to a counterattack.- That's the rule: break the opponent's Instinct before launching your combo. Attack before it activates, place an Instinct Break ability at the start of your combo, or burn through their dodges to force them to give in.
Flash Step and mobility abilities also help escape a combo.
Races in combos
Shark:
Water Body provides huge defense and lets you tank most combos (very long ones can still get through).
Cyborg:
Energy Core deals bonus damage and breaks Instinct if players are close.
Human:
Last Resort increases your damage when your health is low, perfect for punishing hard after surviving.
Heavenly Blood and
Heightened Senses provide some defense or regeneration, so survivability.
Combo structure
Most combos follow the same plan: a big opening move that stuns, a series of moves that chain stuns and damage, then a finisher that hits as hard as possible. Many include moves that pull the opponent (like
Spikey Trident's X) to line them up, or damage pools (
Venom and
Magma movesets). The longer your opponent stays stunned, the more reliable the combo. Duration varies hugely: from two moves in a few seconds to theoretically infinite Ice combos. Combos specific to each item are listed on their respective pages.
Ping tip
Aim for low ping (50 or less, ideally): high ping extends move endlag and makes fast combos impossible to pull off.
