Bomb

CommonNatural

Bomb is a Common Natural-type fruit, sold for 80,000 Beli or 220 Robux, and one of the oldest in the game since it's been there since Update 1. It gives you a complete explosive arsenal: hand-thrown bombs, a minefield placed on the ground, and a self-destruction that exchanges your own life for massive damage. Its large areas of effect and short cooldowns make it a surprisingly effective farmer, even in the later seas, but the total lack of stun penalties it in PvP. Reworked in Update 27.4, a change the community experienced as a nerf, it was buffed back in Update 27.5.

How to get it

Bomb is purchased for 80,000 Beli or 220 Robux from the Blox Fruit Dealer when it's in rotation (the live block below gives you the current stock), and it can also come from the Dealer's gacha. It was the cheapest fruit in the game before Update 17.3, which raised its price from 5,000 to 80,000 Beli and from 60 to 220 Robux. It has no awakening, so not a single Fragment to spend on it. It does, however, have four skins, which is a lot for a Common fruit: Nuclear, Thermite, Azura, and Celebration.

KeyMovePreviewDescription
M1 Blast Toss You throw a small bomb that explodes on contact and pushes what it touches. When held, you hold a regular bomb that transforms into a bigger version, with a face, for a larger and much more painful explosion. Cooldown of 3 seconds for 5 energy, but it only breaks Instinct on direct hit. Good area, multiple targets at once, and average knockback. Two caveats: the cooldown is long for an M1, and the hitbox becomes finicky against an enemy at your height or higher than you, which a small jump before hitting fixes. The charged variant didn't work on mobile, but that's been fixed since.

Z Targeted Bomb
Mas. 1
You charge a shockwave surrounded by ammunition and shrapnel. While holding it, you can move the explosion area, which allows you to follow a fast opponent or troll. On release, a small explosion knocks enemies upward. Cooldown of 4.5 seconds for 15 energy, with no armament time, and Instinct can only dodge it on the edges of the area. Its range is very short, barely farther than a fully charged [V], with reduced hitbox and average damage: it's the hardest move to land in the kit, especially in the air.
cooldown 4.5s · energy 15 · breaks Instinct
X Bomb Grab
Mas. 50
A short dash forward. On direct hit, you grab your target: small immediate explosion, then a bomb stuck on them that explodes 3 seconds later and pulls them back to you. If you miss, you still deal small damage by grazing them, sometimes to multiple opponents at once. The move has aim assist, like Superhuman's [C], and it's your best combo tool, capable of cutting through enemy combos. Cooldown of 9 seconds for 25 energy. Warning, the source contradicts itself on Instinct: the move's sheet claims it never breaks it, while its description specifies that the grab doesn't break it but the planted bomb does. Last flaw: it sometimes sends you in a random direction, or even briefly teleports you into the middle of the ocean.
cooldown 9s · energy 25
C Land Mines
Mas. 75
Tapped, you throw out a burst of bombs that explode in a ring around you and knock nearby enemies back. If they all hit, the damage exceeds a fully charged [V], and becomes ridiculous in a closed space or against a big target like a Sea Beast: the cooldown is so short you can kill a Sea Beast with just [C]. When held, you place a minefield invisible to the opponent, which lasts about 30 seconds and triggers in a chain whenever someone steps on it; using the move again while the first mines are still there makes them all explode together, and any other Bomb move can trigger them. Cooldown of 11 seconds for 50 energy, and it breaks Instinct in all cases. Limitations: the area remains too small for the Second and Third Sea, the held version doesn't work in the air, full charge leaves you vulnerable then saddles you with notable recovery, tapped damage is inconsistent, and chain detonation sometimes only hits a single mine.
cooldown 11s · energy 50 · breaks Instinct
V Self Destruct
Mas. 125
Your head turns into a bomb that grows by draining your own life, then explodes on release: very high damage and the strongest knockback in the game according to the source, capable of sending an opponent across the battlefield. A full charge takes 4 seconds of holding and costs you 25% of your HP, a percentage not a fixed amount, so the more health you have, the more you lose. The move cannot be cancelled, even if you take damage or get stunned, making it an excellent combo breaker and counter to moves like Portal's [Z] or Yeti's [C]. Cooldown of 22.5 seconds for 100 energy, dodgeable by Instinct on the edges. Downsides: you remain immobile the entire duration, the hitbox is strange and often misses in aerial combat, and the knockback is so violent it pushes your target away (when farming, use it above enemies to avoid that). It's also perfect for clearing Piranhas from your ship's wake.
cooldown 22.5s · energy 100 · breaks Instinct
F Explosive Jump
Mas. 25
An explosion under your feet propels you upward, and forward if you're running during use. Cooldown of 6 seconds for 25 energy, spammable like Lightning's [F]: it's very good mobility, with decent area of effect, useful for dodging Dough's [C] or Ice's [V], gaining a lot of height, or avoiding falling into water. The price: once the move's name turns red in the interface, each new use hurts you, increasingly harder. At max health, you can chain it five times, the sixth kills you. It also controls worse than the game's other movement abilities.
cooldown 6s · energy 25 · breaks Instinct

Known bugs and glitches

  • If the [V] is cancelled at the right moment by a stun move, the bomb continues to grow for about thirty seconds until its model disappears. Your view continues to climb until you die or leave the match, and you remain stuck in permanent shiftlock: the game thinks you're still holding the move.
  • The [X] and [F] can teleport you a fraction of a second into the middle of the ocean before bringing you back.
  • The M1 and [Z] particles sometimes flicker on mobile.
  • If the [C] mines are triggered before the armament animation finishes, they flicker and disappear without any explosion.
  • Holding M1 just after an aerial [F] allows you to continue moving during the charge.
  • With the Rabbit race, the ears don't disappear during the [V] and remain in the air.

Trivia

  • Bomb was the cheapest fruit in the game before Update 17.3, ahead of Spike.
  • It's the first Common fruit to receive skins, and it has four.
  • Before Update 17.3, it only had two moves: [Z] Snipe and [X] Ultimate Explosion, renamed since to Targeted Bomb and Bomb Grab.
  • Along with Blade, Bomb is one of only two Common fruits to have an M1.
  • The old version of Bomb is still used by the boss Stone and by the enemies Sorcerer and Factory Staff.
  • The [V] has the strongest knockback in the game, and it's the first move in game history to drain the user's life, the second being this fruit's [F].
  • The [C] used at the center of Rumbling Waters deals astronomical damage: Sea Beasts' hitboxes are so large that each bomb hits everyone.
  • The skin icons don't match the bombs actually thrown, for example Nuclear displays a yellow-green bomb while the projectiles are green-purple.
  • The exclamation points visible in Bomb's attacks are the same ones from the Fishing mini-game.

Combos 13

Combos from the official wiki (the fruit combined with swords, guns, fighting styles and races), sorted by effectiveness. The effectiveness (score out of 10) is estimated from the current PvP meta: fruit level, strength of the items used and stated damage. Remember to break the opponent's Instinct before starting, otherwise the combo won't land.

Strengths and weaknesses

  • Surprisingly effective for farming, even in the later seas
  • Large areas of effect and short cooldowns on nearly the entire kit
  • Most moves break Instinct and hit multiple targets
  • Cheap, easy to obtain, and simple to pick up
  • Excellent against certain Sea Events, and the tapped [C] melts Sea Beasts
  • Good mobility thanks to [F], spammable like Lightning's
  • The [X] benefits from aim assist and opens real combos
  • The [V] hits very hard, cannot be cancelled, and serves as a combo breaker
  • The held [C] places mines invisible to the opponent, with chain detonation
  • Works with multiple stat distributions
  • No stun move: very hard to lock onto a target
  • Kit mostly short-range
  • You are immobile and perfectly readable while charging a move
  • The [V] and [F] cost you your own life
  • High mastery for a Common fruit, up to 125 on the [V]
  • Little combo potential outside of [X]
  • The [Z] has a small hitbox, mediocre range, and places poorly in the air
  • The [C]'s area remains too small for the Second and Third Sea, and its tapped damage is inconsistent
  • The [V] knocks so far it pushes your target away, and often misses in aerial combat
  • The [X] can send you in a random direction, or even briefly teleport you into the middle of the ocean

Our verdict

PvE5/10
PvP4/10

For 80,000 Beli, Bomb delivers well on what's expected: it clears packs of mobs, trivializes certain Sea Events, and its tapped [C] melts Sea Beasts. In PvP it remains playable, especially with the [X] combo, but the total lack of stun and short range leave it behind modern fruits. Play close to your target, watch your health on [V] and [F], and keep it as a farming fruit when you move on to better ones.
