Fighting Style

Advanced Combat, also known as Combat V2, is a fighting style added by Update 30 as an upgraded version of Combat, the starting style. Since 14 September 2026 its obtainment is no longer a mystery: the source dropped the "staff only" warning and published a dedicated page for the puzzle that unlocks it, involving the Secrets Master, the Middle Town teleporter and the awakened bosses. Three abilities are documented (Meteor Tackle, Ground Breaker, Charged Punch), but no damage figures have been published yet. On 16 September 2026 the source added its obtainment tips and its pros and cons, reported here. On the evening of 16 September the source rewrote that obtainment in five steps: the entry follows, with the provenance of each addition. On 28 September 2026 the page was reread to strip opinions from it: the tips, pros and cons below follow that version. Its page is still arguing, from one editor to the next, over whether it is "the most" or "one of the most" time-consuming styles to obtain: this entry does not repeat that judgement, it is an opinion, not a fact.

How to get it

Advanced Combat is unlocked by completing the Advanced Combat puzzle. The source gave it a full page on 14 September 2026, removed the warning that called the obtainment unknown and the style staff only, then rewrote the obtainment on the evening of 16 September, "as it was missing a lot of info", in five steps. On 14 October 2026 a contributor removed the teleporter cutscene step (step 3 below), covered in their view by the island secrets of step 1; a long-standing contributor put it back overnight on 14 to 15 October, and the page counts five steps again.

The five steps:

  1. Complete every First Sea island secret (39 stars), then talk to the Secrets Master (central building of Middle Town, first floor balcony) and pick the "Tell me some stories" option. He tells three stories, each describing an island.
  2. Use the Middle Town teleporter to visit those islands in the order he named them. The water of the Middle Town fountain then turns off, for you only, and the "Tell me some stories" option disappears (across all servers, according to the Secrets Master page).
  3. Replay the teleporter cutscene by clicking, without teleporting, the thirteen islands in level order: Starter Island, Jungle, Pirate Village, Desert, Frozen Village, Marine Fortress, Lower Skylands, Prison, Colosseum, Magma Village, Underwater City, Upper Skylands, Fountain City. This is The Finale, the 40th island secret, the one that grants the last five levels: the full steps are on the Island Secrets entry. The Advanced Combat source page has listed it as a separate step since 30 September 2026 (Starter Island first since 4 October, like the Island Secrets page; it has you teleport back to Starter Island, where the Island Secrets page says the cutscene sends you back by itself). A contributor removed it on 14 October 2026, The Finale being in their view covered by the island secrets of step 1; another put it back overnight on 14 to 15 October, adding that this return to Starter Island grants the final secret and opens the puzzle. This entry kept the step in the meantime, because without The Finale the island secrets are not all complete.
  4. Go to the Remove Blox Fruit NPC at the top of the Prison and have your fruit removed. Talk to him again: the "Remove my Fighting Style" option appears and puts you back on Combat.
  5. Kill each of the 10 awakened bosses using Combat only. Each kill restores part of the fountain. Once it is back to normal, the Secrets Master offers you Advanced Combat, and lets you swap back to Combat whenever you want. The page said "every awakened boss" until the morning of 17 September, then "10 different", and since 3 October 2026 "one of each": with the ten bosses listed on the Awakened Bosses page, it comes to the same thing.

The 14 September version placed the disappearance of the "Tell me some stories" option after the bosses; the 16 September one places it at step 2, like the Secrets Master page. The entry follows those two pages.

Two practical points:

  • The Secrets Master lets you swap back to Combat whenever you want once you own the style. There is no downside to taking it.
  • Step 5 requires being on Combat. Removing your style at Remove Blox Fruit costs 50,000 Beli, like the fruit removal that precedes it. His page states that the option only appears once every island secret is complete, the islands from the stories have been visited with the teleporter and your fruit has been removed; the level 2995 it also required was removed on 15 September 2026 as a rumour. This option only works at the Prison: at Castle on the Sea (Third Sea), the same NPC answers "Not here, not now." Clarified by the source on 16 September 2026; until then his page presented that line as the answer to a second request.

The source's tips (rewritten on the evening of 16 September 2026, reread on 28 September):

  • No level requirement, beyond the levels the island secrets themselves grant: this holds for every step, Remove Blox Fruit included. The page claims a player can get it as early as level 196, the level the island secrets alone grant (calculation not shown).
  • For secrets tied to a fixed-time event, the source recommends a private server: according to it, you choose the island the event spawns on, and the owner can turn PvP off there, which keeps other players from killing you during the quests. That second sentence went back and forth twice on 28 September 2026 (added in the morning, removed at noon, put back in the evening, removed again overnight by an editor who calls those additions incorrect): the source does not agree on it. The page also said, earlier, that public server hopping worked: that sentence has not come back.
  • For the awakened bosses you are missing, server hop or restart your private server. Upper Skylands has two bosses, and the Secrets Master does not announce them with the same line: "Forecast for a storm at Upper Skylands" means the next awakened boss is Sky Warlord, "It's a nice day on Upper skylands..." means Lightning God. Until 16 October 2026 the source page said one message could come before either; it has since corrected itself. Both exact lines come from the Secrets Master page, which lists them all.
  • Do not hit the boss with anything but Combat. Damaging it with another fighting style, a fruit, a sword or a gun fails the attempt. Five helpers get through: Ghost's V, Buddha, Cyborg V3's Energy Core, Draco V3's Flash Step and, since 17 October 2026 on the source page, Angel V4's King's Rule.
  • The page also advised, with awakened Buddha, not to jump or transform near the boss, since the damage dealt fails the attempt; that tip was removed on 28 September 2026 and Buddha is still listed among the helpers.
  • Ghost's V clones hit with Combat as long as you keep Combat out. If you swap to a sword or a gun, they use it too, and the attempt fails.
  • Other players can help you on the awakened bosses. Since 30 September 2026 the source says they do not need to be on Combat, only you do, and they get no credit for Advanced Combat; until then it required them to use Combat too. A single appearance so far: when in doubt, ask them to stay on Combat.
  • A tip the source dropped from its page on the evening of the 16th, but which the Remove Blox Fruit page still supports: before having your fruit removed, equip a worthless fruit or a permanent fruit (a permanent fruit is only unequipped, not destroyed).
  • The page no longer gives a minimum duration. Until 28 September 2026 it counted 20 hours minimum to complete the puzzle, since a boss only awakens on the hour, not counting the Janus secret at Middle Town (random time, 30 minutes, back after 24 hours at least); the figure, never detailed, was removed along with the other opinions.

How many bosses? The Advanced Combat page says "one of each awakened boss" since 3 October 2026 ("10 different" from 17 September to 3 October, "every awakened boss" before), without giving a total. Since 16 September 2026 its Awakened Bosses page lists ten bosses with their trigger, the same ten as its Island Secrets page, without saying whether the four undocumented First Sea bosses (The Saw, Mob Leader, Saber Expert, Ice Admiral) count. The ten are detailed on the Awakened Bosses entry.

Source history. Until 13 September the page said the obtainment was unknown, unverified and the style staff only; our article then listed four steps pieced together by the community. The page was rewritten on 14 September after a day of disagreement between contributors, and the detailed content was moved to a dedicated puzzle page. That is the version reported here.

The puzzle also grants the Class S title (#151 in the titles list). The source tied it to Advanced Combat on 15 September 2026.

Moveset

KeyMovePreviewDescription
M1 Normal Attack Four chained punches: right hook, left hook, uppercut, then a straight punch. These are exactly Combat's M1.
Z Meteor Tackle
Mas. 1
You shortly dash forward and tackle any enemy ahead, dealing decent damage. It is Combat's Quick Tackle, in an upgraded version, with one difference: it can be aimed in any direction. In PvP, it never breaks Instinct, in any way.
cooldown ~8s · energy 15
X Ground Breaker
Mas. 100
You slam the ground and open a crater. If you miss, the flying rocks are purely visual. If you hit, the force of the slam sends the opponent flying into the rocks before slamming them back down. In PvP it only breaks Instinct on the first hit: the following ones can be dodged as usual.
cooldown ~13s · energy 30
C Charged Punch
Mas. 200
You pull your fist back then punch, creating a shockwave with blue rings around you (probably the rings of Buddha V2's [Z], tinted blue). Hold the move for 2 seconds: the released shockwave becomes larger and longer. It only breaks Instinct if the opponent is extremely close to you: from a distance, it is easily dodged.
cooldown ~17s · energy 50

What we know about the abilities

The numbers are published, ability by ability:

KeyAbilityMasteryEnergyCooldownBreaks Instinct
[Z]Meteor Tackle115~8 sno
[X]Ground Breaker10030~13 syes, but on the first hit only
[C]Charged Punch20050~17 sonly at point blank

[X] is the only ability that breaks Instinct, and [C] only breaks it if the opponent is at arm's length. That is what matters in PvP.

Important nuance, published on 21 September 2026: [X] only breaks Instinct on the first hit. The following hits can be Instinct dodged as usual. In other words it opens the guard once, it does not hold it open: use it to start an exchange, not to chain off it.

Source history. On 17 September 2026 the source stated that [X] broke Instinct no matter what. That detail was removed the same evening by a passing contributor, then restored on the night of 18 September. On 21 September it was corrected to "first hit only, the rest is ken-trickable": that is the version this page takes on, and it finally agrees with the weakness the source has listed all along ([X] can be fully Instinct tricked).

[Z] unlocks at mastery 1: you have it the moment you get the style.

What the source clarified on 16 September 2026:

  • Meteor Tackle builds on Combat's Quick Tackle, with one difference: it can be aimed in any direction.
  • Ground Breaker has two outcomes. If you miss, the crater and the flying rocks are purely visual. If you hit, the force of the slam sends the opponent flying into the rocks before slamming them back down.
  • Charged Punch can be held for 2 seconds: the released shockwave is then larger and longer.
  • The M1 are exactly Combat's.

The [Z] cooldown is displayed at about 8 seconds and filed under pros ("short"). The page had also listed it under cons ("too long for PvP") from 16 September to midday on 17 September 2026, then again for five hours on the evening of the 17th: that line has been gone since, this page no longer keeps it.

Did you know

  • According to the source, it is the first upgraded fighting style whose obtainment does not require Mastery on the previous style, unlike the other V2 versions. What it requires instead is a 100 % completed First Sea.
  • It is also the only style you can give back and take again at will: the Secrets Master lets you swap back to Combat whenever you want.

The style's combos page has nine entries as of 27 September 2026, from easy to hard, and it changes almost daily. One example rated easy to medium: Portal [Z], Kabucha [X] then [Z], Shark Anchor [Z] then [X], Advanced Combat [X] then [C].

PixaxeYT's combo around Ice, the first one published, is still there but got longer (Kabucha [X] and Dark Dagger [X] added) and targets Pain users. The Ice [C] must stay unawakened.

Remaining details

Entry written on 10 September 2026, obtainment rewritten on 15 September from the puzzle page published the day before, tips, pros and cons added on the 16th, obtainment rewritten in five steps on the evening of the 16th, boss total specified on the 17th, steps and [C] weaknesses aligned with the clean-up of the evening of the 17th, tips, pros and cons realigned on 28 September with the page's reread, cutscene step tied to The Finale and other players' help revised on 30 September, Starter Island's place in the cutscene settled on 4 October, cutscene step removed from the source page on 14 October and put back on the 15th.

Not yet known:

  • the end of the teleporter cutscene: both pages now put Starter Island first (Island Secrets since 22 September 2026, Advanced Combat since 4 October, after starting at Jungle from 30 September to 4 October), but the Advanced Combat page still has you teleport back to Starter Island while the Island Secrets page says the cutscene sends you back there by itself;
  • the total of awakened bosses in step 5: "10 different" from 17 September to 3 October 2026, "one of each" since, which makes ten with the list on the Awakened Bosses page; the source still does not say whether the undocumented bosses count;
  • the damage of the three abilities. The [C] energy (50) and the [X] (~13 s) and [C] (~17 s) cooldowns were published on 24 September 2026, only the damage numbers are missing now.

Strengths and weaknesses

  • No classic obtainment condition: no Mastery on Combat, no level, no price, only the puzzle
  • Most attacks are fair for grinding
  • Low Mastery thresholds compared to other V2 styles
  • [Z] Meteor Tackle: fairly short cooldown, good mobility, especially midair
  • [X] Ground Breaker: highest damage of any single melee move according to the source, usable as a stun when teaming, drains plenty of dodges from anyone who Instinct-tricks it, and leaves a small soft stun after the final slam, enough to extend if you have a fast enough move (the source cites Sand Coffin)
  • [C] Charged Punch: good combo finisher, good reversal, high damage and AoE when held, chains straight into Ground Breaker if aimed downwards
  • Obtainment demanding for most players: fixed-time events, random spawns and removing your fruit
  • Slow M1, incredibly low range
  • [Z] Meteor Tackle: dodgeable with Instinct, low damage
  • [X] Ground Breaker: hard to hit, AoE still small, random landing point for the opponent, you have to watch where they land to follow up, can be Instinct-tricked and won't pin the opponent down if they Instinct-trick it up high midair, very high endlag on hit, a problem against several enemies, and that endlag lasts another 0.2 s after the stun ends: nearly useless against a well-timed Flash Step
  • [C] Charged Punch: only breaks Instinct at point-blank range, high knockback that sends the opponent far from you, low range, long cooldown, long charge time

Our take

Still impossible to rate: no damage figures are published. What changed is that it is now obtainable, and the only real cost is the time spent completing every First Sea island secret. [X] breaks Instinct on the first hit, which already makes it a style to watch in PvP, without making it a chaining machine.

Update history

Fighting Style : Advanced Combat·Released : Update 30

  1. Update 30 15 octobre 2026 Adjustment
    • Step 3: the teleporter cutscene (The Finale) came back on the source page overnight on 14 to 15 October 2026, put back by a long-standing contributor, with one addition: teleporting back to Starter Island grants the final secret and opens the puzzle. The page counts five steps again, like this entry, which had not removed the step.

    See update 30

  2. Update 30 14 octobre 2026 Adjustment
    • Step 3: since 14 October 2026 the source page no longer lists the teleporter cutscene (The Finale) as a separate step, a contributor having removed it; it counts four steps, The Finale being covered by the island secrets of step 1. This entry keeps its five steps and says so.

    See update 30

  3. Update 30 4 octobre 2026 Adjustment
    • Step 3: since 4 October 2026 the source page puts Starter Island first in the island order, like the Island Secrets page; the discrepancy noted since 30 September is settled. What remains is the return to Starter Island, by teleporter on one page and automatic on the other.

    See update 30

  4. Update 30 4 octobre 2026 Adjustment
    • Step 5: since 3 October 2026 the source page says "one of each awakened boss" instead of "10 different". With the ten bosses on its Awakened Bosses page the count does not change; the entry keeps the history of the three wordings.

    See update 30

  5. Update 30 1er octobre 2026 Adjustment
    • Move pros and cons revised after the source page: the [Z] is no longer credited with useful knockback in PvP; the [X] is no longer said to always pin to the floor (it doesn't if Instinct-tricked up high midair), its stun counts when teaming, and its endlag lasts another 0.2 s after the stun ends, making it nearly useless against a well-timed Flash Step. The [C]'s high knockback moves to the weaknesses, where the source lists it.

    See update 30

  6. Update 30 1er octobre 2026 Adjustment
    • Cooldown and energy of the three moves (Meteor Tackle ~8 s and 15, Ground Breaker ~13 s and 30, Charged Punch ~17 s and 50) are now shown under their description: the values were in the entry but not on the page.

    See update 30

  7. Update 30 5 septembre 2026 Release
    • Advanced Combat added, listed in the notes as a secret developer known quest.

    See update 30

  8. Update 30 14 septembre 2026 Adjustment
    • The source publishes the three step obtainment puzzle and drops the "staff only" mention: the style is obtainable in game.

    See update 30

  9. Update 30 15 septembre 2026 Adjustment
    • The source ties the Class S title (#151) to obtaining Advanced Combat.
    • The level 2995 requirement for removing your fighting style at Remove Blox Fruit was taken off the source as a rumour: the page follows.

    See update 30

  10. Update 30 16 septembre 2026 Adjustment
    • The source finally describes the M1 (four hits: right hook, left hook, uppercut, straight punch), spells the X "Ground Breaker" as two words and puts the Z at mastery 1.

    See update 30

  11. Update 30 16 septembre 2026 Adjustment
    • The source adds its obtainment tips (server hopping, worthless fruit before removal, every island secret as the only requirement, 20 hours minimum), its pros and cons, and clarifies the abilities: aimable Meteor Tackle, purely visual Ground Breaker on a miss, Charged Punch held for 2 seconds.
    • Hitting an awakened boss with anything but Combat cancels the waterfall sequence, except Buddha, Energy Core and Draco's Flash Step.
    • Remove Blox Fruit: "Not here, not now." is his answer in the Third Sea, not to a second request; Combat is relearned at the Prison.

    See update 30

  12. Update 30 16 septembre 2026 Adjustment
    • The source rewrites the obtainment in five steps: the "Tell me some stories" option disappears as soon as the teleports are done (as the Secrets Master page says), a teleporter cutscene is triggered by clicking the thirteen islands in level order (single appearance, to be confirmed), and removing your fruit then your fighting style at Remove Blox Fruit becomes a full step.
    • Tips rewritten: private server for fixed-time events, Ghost's V clones and allied players accepted as long as they hit with Combat, Cyborg V3's Energy Core and Draco V3's Flash Step confirmed; the worthless-fruit tip before removal was dropped from the page, the entry keeps it and says so.

    See update 30

  13. Update 30 17 septembre 2026 Adjustment
    • The source puts a number on the awakened bosses step: 10 different bosses to kill with Combat, instead of "every awakened boss" (single appearance, consistent with the ten bosses listed on the Awakened Bosses page).

    See update 30

  14. Update 30 17 septembre 2026 Adjustment
    • The source states that Ground Breaker breaks Instinct no matter what, removes high damage from Charged Punch's strengths and adds two weaknesses to it (extreme endlag, tap version almost always useless).

    See update 30

  15. Update 30 17 septembre 2026 Adjustment
    • The source cleans up the steps: the thirteen island cutscene becomes a full step 3. For [C] Charged Punch, it removes two weaknesses (extreme endlag, useless tap) and adds high damage; the "[X] breaks Instinct no matter what" detail is gone.

    See update 30

  16. Update 30 18 septembre 2026 Adjustment
    • The rewrite of the evening of 17 September only lasted five hours: the page's main author put back the midday version. So [X] breaks Instinct no matter what, [C] gets its two weaknesses back (extreme endlag, useless tap) and loses "high damage", [Z] loses "cooldown too long for PvP". This page follows that version, held across a dozen revisions.
    • During the night, a contributor removed the condition that players helping you on the awakened bosses must also be on Combat. A single appearance, no explanation: this page keeps the condition for now.

    See update 30

  17. Update 30 21 septembre 2026 Adjustment
    • The source corrects Ground Breaker [X]: it only breaks Instinct on the FIRST hit, the following ones can be dodged as usual ("only breaks instinct on first hit, the rest is ken-trickable"). Since 17 September it had claimed it broke Instinct no matter what. The nuance resolves the contradiction with the weakness the source has listed all along, which calls [X] fully Instinct trickable.

    See update 30

  18. Update 30 24 septembre 2026 Adjustment
    • The source publishes the missing numbers: [X] cooldown at ~13 s, [C] cooldown at ~17 s and [C] energy at 50. Only the damage numbers remain unknown.

    See update 30

  19. Update 30 27 septembre 2026 Adjustment
    • The style's combos page, described here as having a single entry, now has nine: the page quotes one stable example and notes that PixaxeYT's combo got longer and targets Pain users.

    See update 30

  20. Update 30 28 septembre 2026 Adjustment
    • The page is reread to strip opinions from it: the "longest and hardest fighting style to obtain" wording, the 20 hours minimum figure and the awakened Buddha tip (do not jump or transform near the boss) are gone; pros and cons rephrased, the [X] goes from "true stun" to "usable as a stun" and the [C] loses "tap almost useless" ("extreme endlag" was already gone on 25 September).
    • New in the tips: a private server owner can turn PvP off there, and since Upper Skylands has two bosses, the same Secrets Master message can come before either one.

    See update 30

  21. Update 30 28 septembre 2026 Adjustment
    • Noon reread on the source side: the sentence about a private server owner turning PvP off, added that same morning, is removed; the introduction says the many random spawns make it one of the most time-consuming styles to obtain; other players help "on the awakened bosses" (wording made explicit).

    See update 30

  22. Update 30 28 septembre 2026 Adjustment
    • Evening reread on the source side: the introduction no longer says the style is the longest or hardest to obtain, only that many of its spawn points are random; the sentence about a private server owner turning PvP off, removed at noon, is put back.

    See update 30

  23. Update 30 29 septembre 2026 Adjustment
    • Overnight on 28 to 29 September the source page was reverted to its morning version: the "one of the most time-consuming styles to obtain" judgement is back, the sentence about turning PvP off in a private server is gone a second time. The entry keeps the facts and flags both back-and-forths.

    See update 30

  24. Update 30 29 septembre 2026 Adjustment
    • The source now shows each of the four moves as a GIF, the [C] Charged Punch one having been added to the page on 29 September 2026: this page displays them. For [X] Ground Breaker, it is the version where the hit lands.

    See update 30

  25. Update 30 30 septembre 2026 Adjustment
    • The source page ties the teleporter cutscene step to the last island secret, The Finale: the entry points to the Island Secrets steps and keeps Starter Island first in the sequence, where the Advanced Combat page starts at Jungle. The page now also says that players helping you on the awakened bosses do not need to be on Combat (a single appearance, flagged as such) and drops "poor in mid-air PvP" from its cons.

    See update 30

  26. Update 30 16 octobre 2026 Adjustment
    • Awakened bosses of Upper Skylands: on 16 October 2026 the source page corrects its tip, the Secrets Master does have one line per boss (a storm for Sky Warlord, a nice day for Lightning God) rather than one message for both; the entry takes both exact lines from the Secrets Master page. Pros and cons: small soft stun after Ground Breaker's final slam (follow-up possible with a fast move), Charged Punch chains into Ground Breaker when aimed downwards, Meteor Tackle's mobility is "especially" midair, and Ground Breaker's random landing point now asks you to watch where the opponent lands rather than being "unreliable".

    See update 30

  27. Update 30 18 octobre 2026 Adjustment
    • On 17 October 2026 the source page adds Angel V4's King's Rule to the helpers allowed against the awakened bosses, next to Ghost's V, Buddha, Cyborg V3's Energy Core and Draco V3's Flash Step: the entry now lists five helpers and dates the addition, which comes from a single edit the other editors left in place.
