How to get it

First Sea: at the Prison, on one of the circles surrounding the area. Third Sea: at Castle on the Sea, on the roof of the largest building. He was added to the game at Update 2.

Removing your fighting style (Update 30)

A second option came with Update 30: "Remove my fighting style". It removes your equipped style for 50,000 Beli and puts you back on Combat.

It does not show up right away. According to his page, three conditions are confirmed:

1. having completed every island secret;
2. having picked "Tell me some stories" at the Secrets Master and visited with the Middle Town teleporter the islands from his stories;
3. having already removed your Blox Fruit with him (50,000 Beli as well).

Level 2995 is no longer listed as a condition. It was added to the source page on 12 September 2026 by one contributor, then removed on 15 September 2026 by another, who calls it a rumour spread by clickbait guides and videos. Neither the addition nor the removal cites a source. The number is all the more doubtful because it matches the game's former level cap exactly, 2995 until the 10 September fix raised it to 3000, so the mix-up is an easy one to make. In practice, completing all 40 island secrets takes you right up to the cap anyway, so the question is mostly theoretical. Until the source settles it, do not treat that level as a hard requirement.

It only works at the Prison (First Sea): at Castle on the Sea he answers "Not here, not now." Clarified by the source on 16 September 2026; until then his page presented that line as the answer to a second request, which is no longer stated anywhere.

Practical tip: equip a worthless fruit or a permanent fruit before having your fruit removed, so the loss is nil or negligible (a permanent fruit is only unequipped, not destroyed). The Advanced Combat page dropped it from its tips on the evening of 16 September 2026, without contradicting it.

What it is for. This is the step that puts you back on Combat for the Advanced Combat puzzle, whose last step requires killing the awakened bosses using Combat only. Once Advanced Combat is obtained you no longer need him: the Secrets Master lets you switch between Combat and Advanced Combat whenever you want.

Before you pay

• A permanent fruit is not destroyed: it's only unequipped, you just need to re-equip it to use it again
• Without a fruit, you swim without taking damage, even without Shark V2 or better
• Without a fruit, you're also immune to the Rot effect from Enchantments
• The "Shut up" option triggers nothing other than his threatening quote
• The Fandom advises against using it: in most cases you're just wasting your money

To know

• He has long had bugs with certain fruits, notably Kitsune, Dough, and Love
• Removing your fruit during Dragon's transformation freezes you in place
• He exists because back then you had to remove your fruit before equipping another one; today the old one goes away on its own
• Another reason for his existence: before Update 23, there was no Boat Dealer at the Prison, so without flying ability you had to remove your fruit to swim to the next island

He also does a second thing, and it matters. Once he has removed your fruit, talk to him again: the "Remove my fighting style" option strips your fighting style and puts you back on Combat, the base style.

It sounds minor, but the source presents this as one of the requirements to obtain Advanced Combat, the style added by Update 30. The full steps are on the Advanced Combat entry.

Since 14 September 2026 the Advanced Combat page confirms this step: the puzzle requires killing the awakened bosses with Combat only, and since the 16th it states that Combat is relearned here, at the Prison.
