The Saw is a level 100 boss posted behind the fountain in
Middle Town, in the
First Sea. Its arrival is announced to the entire server by a system message, and you only have 15 minutes to defeat it before it leaves. It's the only way to get the
Shark Saw, and its 1 hour and 15 minute respawn makes it a very watched boss. It fights with a sword, without
Aura, with the old moveset of the Shark Saw.
How to get it
At Middle Town (First Sea), behind the fountain, in front of the house with the ladder. It appears every 1 hour and 15 minutes, only one at a time, and disappears after 15 minutes if not killed. You can also make it respawn by paying 50 Robux via
Respawn Bosses. You must deal at least 10% of the damage to be eligible for rewards, like all bosses.

The system message that accompanies its arrival announces: "The Saw has spawned in the game! You have 15 minutes to kill him and possibly get a rare reward!".
What it drops
- Approximately 500 Beli
- 24,000 to 27,000 EXP
- 2,500
Bounty/Honor
Possible drop:
- The Shark Saw, his sword. The Fandom indicates that its drop rate is unknown to this day.
Its two attacks
It reuses the old moveset of the Shark Saw.
| Attack | What it does | How to avoid it |
|---|---|---|
| Consecutive Slashes (old [Z] of the Shark Saw) | Seven consecutive sword slashes in front of him, that sound and hit everything in their path | Keep your distance and punish the recovery time at the end of the animation |
| Execution (old [X] of the Shark Saw) | He spins on himself many times and propels himself forward, dealing damage and a stun to everything he touches | Make him crash into a decor element or the fountain, while keeping a good distance |
How to beat it
- The right equipment: a ranged
Blox Fruit that's not too energy-consuming like
Flame,
Light or
Smoke. Avoid Combat and
Dark Step, unless paired with
Buddha: too short range and poor knockback. - Under level 50: get help. Gun and Sword hands are particularly not recommended at this stage, between too weak damage and too short range, while he can deal enormous damage to you in a single hit.
- Hit and run: dash at him, land a hit, dash back before he reacts. Well executed, you chain hits without taking any. Monitor your energy, otherwise you won't be able to dodge.
- The fountain trap: stay in the fountain and draw him outside, then spam your ranged attacks. Avoid high knockback ones, you might send him far away and trigger his Execution.
- The balcony:
Air Jump to the balcony of the house with the golden chest, then a few long-range attacks. When he gets under the house, dash to the other side of the fountain and find a clear line of fire before starting again. It's slow, but it's a good method under level 75. - Beyond level 200, give up: the reward isn't worth much compared to the swords you already have in hand, starting with the
Saber obtained via its puzzle.
Good to know
- The Saw is the lowest level boss capable of dropping a sword.
- It's the only enemy or boss that appears at Middle Town.
- It's also the only boss announced by a system message when it arrives, making it the first "event" boss of the game, in the same logic as the raid boss
Greybeard. - Contradiction assumed by the Fandom: the system message promises a "rare" reward, while the Shark Saw is classified as
Uncommon. - New players often overestimate the Shark Saw because of its rare appearance and low drop rate. It's surpassed by most other First Sea swords, Saber first and foremost.
- The Saw and
Darkbeard share exactly the same face. - Known bug since Update 24: its Shark Saw can float above it during its [X].
- Little infobox oddity: the Fandom gives 60 to 65 in base damage and 66 to 73 for the second value, without explaining the difference between the two lines.
Strengths and weaknesses
- A single hit can knock you out if you're around his level without the right build
- Execution propels a stun in your face if you let him charge
- 15-minute window only: miss it and you have to wait 1 hour 15
- No Aura: your
Elemental immunity remains useful - He lets himself get cornered against the fountain or the decor
- No real range against a ranged fruit from the balcony
Our take
The mandatory passage for the Shark Saw early in the First Sea: tough at its level, trivial after.
