Fighting Style

Dark Step (formerly Black Leg) is the cheapest leg fighting style in the game after Combat: perfect for farming in the First Sea, with AoE on all its moves and an Overheat buff that increases its damage by approximately 22%. Its damage remains weak and it is surpassed by V2 styles, but it is a necessary step towards Superhuman and Death Step.

How to get it

Learn from the Dark Step Teacher at Pirate Village for 150,000 Beli (the style is available on all three seas). No Mastery prerequisite. Leveling its Mastery is mainly an investment: 300+ required for Superhuman, 400+ for Death Step.

M1 Power Kicks You throw three quick kicks then a fourth one that ends the combo, at close range. It's the slowest M1 of all fighting styles: compensate with good placement.
Z Flying Kick

 You propel yourself toward your cursor in an arc, with a red line indicating your landing point (less reliable at long range). Under Overheat, the move gains bonus damage and an impact damage area.
X Breakdance
Mas. 40
 Balanced on your hands, you spin and strike everything around you with your legs: touched enemies are stunned for the entire move duration, but you cannot move. Under Overheat, bonus damage and flaming wind.
C Barrage
Mas. 80
 You unleash a barrage of kicks toward your cursor, extendable by holding the key. Warning: the move cancels if you get hit. Under Overheat, the barrage ignites and gains damage.
V Overheat
Mas. 150
 You spin at high speed and ignite your legs: Dark Step damage increases by approximately 22% for 60 seconds. Activation does inflict some damage, but as much as a simple M1: use it for the buff, not to hit.

Strengths and weaknesses

  • The cheapest paid style in the game: 150,000 Beli
  • All moves have AoE, excellent for farming in the First Sea
  • Good combo potential for its price
  • Some aerial mobility with [Z] Flying Kick
  • Many individual hits: useful for leveling Aura
  • Slowest M1 of all fighting styles
  • [X] and [C] are easily countered at Instinct
  • Very weak damage, surpassed by all V2 styles
  • Pairs poorly with Buddha (slow and weak M1, moves hard to land in transformation)

Pick it up in the First Sea to farm at low cost, then level it: 300 Mastery for Superhuman, 400 for Death Step. In pure PvP, move on quickly to something else.
