Races

Mechanic

Races are a core mechanic in Blox Fruits: each brings passives and buffs. You receive one at random upon your very first login, then you can upgrade it to V2, V3, and V4 to unlock increasingly powerful abilities. Seven races exist: Human, Rabbit, Shark, Angel, Ghoul, Cyborg, and Draco. Budget 19,000,000 Beli to bring all races to V3, and 187,250 Fragments to awaken all V4s.

How to get it

Upon your very first login, the game draws a race from four: Human (62.5%), Rabbit (12.5%), Shark (12.5%), or Angel (12.5%). The three others unlock through quests: Cyborg via its puzzle, Ghoul for 100 Ectoplasm and a Hellfire Torch from the Experimic, Draco via the Dragon Wizard's quest.

Changing your race

The reroll is always random, and it can only land on Human, Rabbit, Shark, or Angel.

Ghoul, Draco, and Cyborg never appear in the reroll, and it's impossible to start a game with them: they must go through their quest chains. However, once unlocked, you can return to them whenever you want by speaking to their NPC.

Upgrading to V2

All races have a second, third, and fourth version. V2 and V3 are played in the Second Sea, V4 in the Third Sea once certain conditions are met.

For V2, you go see the Alchemist in the Green Zone and do the Flower Quest. You need Level 850 minimum and the Colosseum Quest completed. The purchase costs 500,000 Beli.

Draco is different: you need to be Level 2000, talk to the Dragon Wizard, farm 5 Fire Flowers from enemies that drop them rarely with a five-minute cooldown each, then return to pay 1,000,000 Beli.

Upgrading to V3

V3 unlocks an additional ability, directly activable with the T key. Before you can start, you need:

  • Your current race's V2,
  • Level 1000,
  • Don Swan defeated and the door to their room unlocked,
  • 2,000,000 Beli in your pocket before even talking to Arowe.

Arowe hides behind a hidden entrance on the plateau where Diamond is located. They then give you a quest that depends on your race, and the purchase costs 2,000,000 Beli.

RaceWhat Arowe asks you
HumanDefeat the first 3 bosses of the Second Sea: Diamond, Jeremy, and Orbitus
RabbitCollect 30 Chests
SharkDefeat a Sea Beast that spawned naturally. Summoned ones don't count, including those from the Tide Keeper
AngelDefeat another player who also has the Angel race
GhoulDefeat 5 players, any level, on the same server in the Second Sea. You can defeat the same person five times, and you don't need to gain Bounty or Honor
CyborgShow any physical fruit to Arowe. They won't take it from you

Upgrading to V4 (Race Awakening)

V4, also called Race Awakening, adds several abilities and is earned through quests, puzzles, and trials that change depending on the race. The Y key activates it directly.

To unlock the questline, you need:

  • to have defeated Raid Boss Rip_Indra,
  • to have defeated the Dough King,
  • to have unlocked your race's V3.

Once all three boxes are checked, you go see the Sealed King to start the next part. The Fandom links to a dedicated page for each race's details.

What it costs in total

  • 19,000,000 Beli to bring all races to V3. The math checks out: six races at 500,000 for V2 plus 2,000,000 for V3, and Draco at 1,000,000 plus 3,000,000. Fragments spent on race changes don't count toward this.
  • 187,250 Fragments to fully awaken V4 across all races.

Good to know

  • For the Slayer Skin of the Dark Blade, you need V3 on all four starting races. Ghoul, Cyborg, and Draco don't count, since you can't start with them.
  • V3 quest progression is not saved if you quit the game. However, dying saves your progress.
  • Changing race preserves the version you reached on your old race: if you level Angel to V3 then switch to Human, you'll find your Angel V3 when you switch back.
  • Cyborg is the only race that brings no movement bonus in its passive, outside of V4.
  • Rabbit's Agility doesn't stack with the Ice Skating of the Awakened Ice.
  • Draco is the only race whose appearance changes as early as V2.
  • If you change race during combat, your respawn doesn't count as a death: even if your opponent had the necessary Bounty or Honor gap, they get nothing and the counter doesn't move. The reroll makes you respawn directly instead of dying first.
  • Before Update 13, you could trade a Rare Artifact to Norp for a Race Reroll. Fragments replaced this system.
