Poneglyphs

Mechanic

Poneglyphs were large stones covered with engraved inscriptions, placed like cubes throughout the world. The game never explained what they were for: no use, no reward, just mysterious decoration. Almost all of them were removed from the game, and only one remains, on the final island of the Light raid.

Where to find them

They could be found on Snow Mountain and on Cave Island, in Second Sea. Most have been removed since.

A poneglyph as it used to appear, placed on the ground as a cube.

The last one still visible is on the final island of the Light raid. A small difference from the old ones: there, the Poneglyph is carved into a wall, not placed on the ground as an exposed cube.

The Light raid's poneglyph, the last one still visible, carved into a wall.

Trivia

  • The symbols carved on the Light raid's Poneglyph are exactly the same as those from the old locations.
  • A persistent rumor thought they hinted at a Rubber fruit Awakening. This was false - they're just Easter Eggs.
  • There was also a Gamer Robot symbol, another wink from the developers.
  • The source page provides no update history: neither the addition date nor the removal date are documented.
