The Gorilla King

Boss

The Gorilla King is the first boss you encounter in Blox Fruits: level 25, 950 HP, stationed in the Jungle surrounded by his Gorillas. It's an enlarged and crowned version of the latter, with a different skin color and Aura on its hands. Like all bosses, it moves slowly, but for an unprepared player early in the game it remains a real threat: a single hit can take a quarter of your life bar. Its appearance was redone in Update 30, with the First Sea rework. Nothing indicates its stats changed, however.

How to get it

In the Jungle (First Sea), near the small islet connected to the main Jungle, just next to the Gorillas. Respawns every 2 minutes.

Small detail to note: the Fandom tips cite 12.3 per slam hit and 27.7 for a punch - these are the base values from the infobox. The "atk" line, however, shows 8.7 to 19.6 instead.

Drops and Quest

SourceReward
Kill625 Bounty or Honor, approximately 150 Beli, approximately 550 EXP
Adventurer Quest (accessible from Lv. 20)2,000 Beli and 9,500 EXP

Its only attack: Consecutive Ground Slam

AbilityEffectHow to Avoid
Consecutive Ground SlamIt pounds the ground multiple times in succession, like the Yeti boss. Area damage and stun on everything in range.Don't stay close to it. Keep jumping, moving, and dashing around it constantly to dodge the slam like you would its punches.

The number to remember: the slam stuns and deals 12.3 damage per hit, which is 73.8 total, approximately three quarters of a beginner's life bar. If you're already low on health, it can kill you in one second.

How to Defeat It

  • Trap it on the terrain. The grass slope to the right of its spawn point, or the elevated grass platforms around the spawn, keep it grounded: you can hit it calmly while it struggles. Still stay alert for the Consecutive Ground Slam.
  • Buy the Rocket fruit from the shop if you have nothing else: its [Z] hits from a distance, which keeps you out of range of the slam. The Fandom also advises resetting your Stats to fruit hand for the occasion.
  • Hit and run: you dash towards it, you land a hit, you dash backwards before it can react. It's difficult to master, you need enough energy to chain dashes together, but the technique will serve you well against all the bosses that follow.
  • More simply, any fruit or long-range weapon makes its moves easy to dodge.
  • Elemental immunity is useless here: it's a boss, and it has Aura.

Good to Know

  • It's the first boss in the game, but also the first enemy to possess Aura, and the lowest-level one to have it.
The Gorilla King, the very first boss in the game.
  • It's also the first enemy to use Consecutive Ground Slam, an ability that is later found on many bosses and enemies across the three seas.
  • It has already served as an NPC during the Valentines Delivery.

Our take

The first big test for beginners: stay mobile, avoid the slam and it will fall quickly with its 950 HP.
