Mirage Island

How to get it

Sail by boat in Sea Danger Level 2-6 of the Third Sea until it spawns. Each player in your Sea Exploration Group increases the chance slightly, the rate increases mainly with the number of boats in the zone (not the number of players on a single ship). You will often read that a Full Moon greatly increases the odds: nothing confirms it, and the source page removed that claim on 8 October 2026. The boat doesn't even need to move as long as you're sitting on it. The island despawns after 15 minutes, or if the player who made it spawn moves away, dies, or disconnects. No cooldown between spawns.

The dealer is hard to spot on the island: plan for 2-3 people to find it faster.

Race Awakening: step by step

• Prepare the area: start the Sealed King quest and keep your Mirror Fractal with you. Resonance only works at night (no need for Full Moon since the Valentine's Update: all moon phases work).
• Go to the highest point: the only mountain WITHOUT grass. The mountain in the center of the island works too.
• Resonate: activate your race's power and stare at the moon for 5 to 15 seconds. The moon starts to glow and the message "Your <Mirror Fractal> has resonated with the moon." appears. The Mirror Fractal is NOT consumed.
• Find the Blue Gear: a glowing blue gear, to uncover before nightfall or the island despawns (both make it disappear). Key messages: "You found a weird artifact..." then "You hear a distant chiming from the Temple of Time."

• Touch it: you can now pull the lever at the Temple of Time.

If you've already found the Blue Gear, it becomes invisible to you: only those who haven't found it yet can see it.

Preparing well for your hunt

• The best time to leave: at sunrise. Night will fall roughly when you find the island, just in time to search for the Blue Gear.
• Search in a group, each on their own boat: the spawn rate increases with the number of boats in the zone.
• Solo, aim for Sea Danger Level 3-4 instead: the spawn rate is lower there, but the events remain manageable alone. Level 4-5 offers the best visibility to spot the gear; if you hunt at level 6, park your boat far from the island to stay out of the fog once on it.
• Recommended boats: high HP (Lantern, Guardian, Beast Hunter) or fast (The Sentinel, very fast but fragile against big events; Miracle, which dodges all events except the Terrorshark).
• Kitsune Mask helps a lot with visibility at Sea Danger Level 6; once on the island, switch to a faster accessory (Pilot Helmet, Dino Hood).
• Take the Shipwright subclass (with max planks) and 3-4 players to repair the boat on the way and find the island in one attempt.
• Enable Fast Mode: it removes most of the darkness and smoke.
• Use Portal (V or C) to despawn annoying Sea Events, or a Kitsune player to distract Terrorsharks.

Tips on the island

• Enter the island as soon as it spawns: a Sea Beast that appears too close can sometimes make it despawn, and the risk increases greatly with Rumbling Waters.
• On the island, your vision is reduced during the day and nearly nonexistent at night. Transformed Buddha + zoom allows you to see better.
• To find the highest point, follow the island's outer wall and look for the grass-free plateau.
• To spot the Blue Gear, exit the island where there's no fog and look at it from afar: the gear becomes clearly visible.
• Shift Lock + first-person view help the Mirror Fractal resonate; on console, join a first-person server, resonance is less reliable there.
• Resonance works just as well at the highest peak as at the island's center.

Did you know?

• The island is based on the real mirage phenomenon and mimics its effect: it can only be seen from a distance and fades as you approach.
• Its music disappeared for a time due to a bug (it was then the only island in the game without a soundtrack), before being restored on February 28, 2024.
• Destructible Physics doesn't work on Mirage Island.
• Rarely, chests remain visible after the island despawns... but it's impossible to loot them.
• With The Sentinel or Miracle (flying boats), the island doesn't alter flight altitude, unlike Treasure Island, Haunted Shipwreck, Prehistoric Island, or Frozen Dimension.
