The Haunted Ship Raid is a
Sea Event exclusive to the
Third Sea. Two Haunted
Grand Brigades, 45,000 HP each, emerge in front of your ship with 5 to 6 crew members on board. The ships bombard your hull while the crew jumps on you. It's one of the most hated maritime events in the community, and yet one of the most important: it's your primary source of Fool's Gold.
How to get it
It appears on its own while sailing in the Third Sea, from
Sea Danger Level 1 to 6. No summoning, no items to use: the two ships materialize right in front of your bow.
What You Face
| Element | Details |
|---|---|
| Zone | Sea Danger Level 1 to 6, Third Sea only |
| Ships | 2 Haunted Grand Brigades |
| HP per ship | 45,000 |
| Damage | approximately 100 per shot, to your ship |
| 5 to 6 members per raid |
The distribution of targets is important to understand: the Grand Brigades aim at your ship, not at you, while the crew members attack you directly.
A note on the name of these opponents: the source calls them
Haunted Crew Members when describing the raid, then
Fish Crew Members in the same sentence and throughout the tips section. The Fandom doesn't settle between the two names.
Drops and Rewards
Per ship destroyed:
- 75
Fragments - 3 Fool's Gold
For the complete raid (both ships):
- 150 Fragments
- 6 Fool's Gold
Possible drop, not guaranteed:
- a random
Blox Fruit
The Strategy That Works
General principle. Keep one player at the helm navigating in a straight line, parallel to the raid: the cannonballs become very easy to dodge. Meanwhile, the others take care of the crew.
Against the ships. Their hitboxes are weird, so prioritize area (AoE) attacks. The M1 of
Dragonstorm is a very good choice: huge damage, at a constant pace. Crew members, meanwhile, take any type of attack.
The one-shot combo for a ship. With
Sharkman Karate,
Magma and the
Leviathan Crown, you can destroy a Grand Brigade in a single chain, in this precise order to minimize cooldowns:
- 1. Magma [F] to get closer to the ship, then release the move so the magma already deals damage.
- 2. Magma [V], then [C], then [Z].
- 3. Sharkman Karate [C], then [X], then [Z].
- 4. Repeat on the second ship.
Well executed, this combo limits the damage your ship takes to less than 600 HP, even solo.
If you're playing
Kitsune,
Dragon, or
T-Rex. Climb right into the Grand Brigade and aim at the front sail: the hitbox is in the front part of the ship, and you won't fall into the water by spamming your M1.
Good to Know
- The Haunted Ship Raid is very disliked by the community, which judges it as difficult or even poorly designed: the damage is huge and directed at ships rather than at the player, making the challenge less fair.
- Despite this reputation, it's one of the most important Sea Events in the game, because it drops Fool's Gold. This material is used to craft key items for facing other Sea Events, and its other sources are rare.
- The dropped fruit can be any Blox Fruit in the game, all with the same probability. Dragon and
Rocket have exactly the same chance of dropping. - Direct consequence: since the majority of fruits in the game are
Mythical or
Legendary, you statistically have better chances of getting a rare fruit than a
Common fruit.
Our take
A demanding Sea Event, reputed to be unfair because it targets your hull rather than you, but essential: it's your main source of Fool's Gold, and the only maritime event that can drop any fruit in the game with equal chances. Navigate straight and parallel, deal AoE damage, and it becomes very profitable.
