Marines

Mechanic

Marines are one of the two playable factions in Blox Fruits, facing Pirates. The game sums up their pitch in three points: team up against pirates, faster and cheaper ships, and bounties to cash in. In both PvP and PvE you gain Honor instead of Bounty, and a rank displayed above your name evolves with this Honor, from Seaman Recruit to Legendary Fleet Admiral.

How to get it

You choose your faction when you join the game: Marines or Pirates. As long as you haven't chosen one or the other, you're in a so-called neutral team, based on your Honor; it switches to Bounty as soon as you join the Pirates. As a Marine, you then accumulate Honor through PvP and PvE.

Honor ranks

Your rank depends only on the amount of Honor accumulated:

HonorGrade
1Seaman Recruit
1KSeaman Apprentice
5KSeaman First Class
15KPetty Officer
30KChief Petty Officer
50KMaster Chief Petty Officer
100KEnsign
200KLieutenant Junior Grade
500KLieutenants
1MLieutenant Commander
2MCommander
3MCaptain
4MCommodore
5MRear Admiral
7.5MVice Admiral
10MAdmiral
15MFleet Admiral
20MLegendary Fleet Admiral

Since Update 20, you can no longer see your exact Honor number or your rank at the top of the screen yourself - another player has to read them for you, which is pretty annoying.

Honor-related titles

  • Honor titles are only obtained in Second Sea and Third Sea.
  • 10M Honor: Admiral title (#024).
  • 20M Honor: Fleet Admiral title (#025).
  • 5M Bounty or 5M Honor: Pirate Hunter (#019) and Bounty Hunter (#020) titles.
  • Justice Seeker (#066) is reserved for Marines.
  • Beyond 2.5M Honor, killing Bosses no longer grants you Honor. The same limit exists on the Pirate side with Bounty.

Collecting pirate bounties

It's the faction's economic advantage, but it requires patience:

  1. Click on a player's wanted poster, usually displayed on a wall of certain islands, to start the quest.
  2. If the level gap with the target is too large, the quest won't even start.
  3. No compass or landmark tells you where they are - it's up to you to take to the sea and find them.

Same logic as for regular kills: a target too low or too high in level yields nothing, except here you can't equip the quest at all.

Alliances and raids

  • All Marines are allied by default: impossible to attack each other except at Temple of Time after trials, or in PvP at Colosseum.
  • A Marine cannot create or join a crew.
  • You can still ally with a Pirate by doing a Raid with them. The alliance cannot be broken before the end of the raid.
  • Once the raid is over, you are automatically unallied with the Pirate(s) if you die or reset your character.

Good to know

  • Playing Marine is especially profitable early on: faster ships greatly speed up travel. Later, the ship is used less and the faction's appeal becomes mainly PvP.
  • Many Bounty Hunters from the early seas play Marine.
  • This faction encourages group play, but beware of large area-of-effect attacks (Cyborg V4 for example), which punish packs of allied players.
  • A Marine who equips the Coat, dropped by the Vice Admiral at Marine Fortress, sees it appear with the Marine logo and blue sleeves.
  • The NPC who represents the faction is precisely this Vice Admiral, boss of the First Sea at Marine Fortress.

Strengths and weaknesses

  • Faster ships and 50% cheaper, with a blue and white skin
  • Impossible to be attacked by another Marine: the entire faction is allied
  • You can cash in pirate bounties via their wanted posters displayed on certain islands, for extra Beli
  • Only Marines can obtain the Justice Seeker title (#066)
  • Faction very suitable early on, where ship travel matters most
  • No crew: impossible to create or join one, so 2 crew-exclusive titles are inaccessible
  • Impossible to attack another Marine, even a kill stealer
  • No alliance possible with Pirates outside of a Raid, and the alliance breaks on death or reset
  • Faction much less populated than the Pirate one
  • Since Update 20, you can no longer read your exact Honor or your rank yourself
  • Bounty quests have no compass or marker: you must find the target manually
  • No more Honor gained from Bosses beyond 2.5M
