Dashing

Mechanic

Dash is THE basic movement mechanic in Blox Fruits, present since Update 1: a short acceleration in the direction you're looking, at the cost of some energy. You use it everywhere, from farming to PvP to exploration, and several races and accessories enhance it significantly.

How to get it

Available from your first connection, there's nothing to unlock. On PC or laptop, press Q; on mobile, tap the "Dash" button; on console or controller, shake the left joystick twice.

How it works

Each dash propels you forward a short distance, faster than normal running, and costs 30 energy points, or only 15 with Rabbit V2.

The ground dash, which propels you forward a short distance.

In shift lock, you can dash in any direction: press Q at the same time as a movement key (W, A, S, or D).

The air dash, usable in any direction while in shift lock.

What lengthens or shortens your dash

  • Rabbit or Human at V2 or higher: noticeably longer dash.
  • Rabbit and Ghoul races lengthen the distance in general.
  • Some accessories also lengthen the dash, for example Dino Hood.
  • Kitsune at 2 tails or more: approximately 90% speed and dash bonus, with a spiral animation and blue particles.
  • Since Update 17.3, dashes are slightly shorter in safe zones.
  • With Buddha V2 or Venom, the dash appears shorter because of character size, but the actual distance is identical.

Note: the source gives a figure that is difficult to interpret as-is: a Rabbit V2 or higher that uses neither Agility nor Race Awakening would have a dash length of approximately 80%, without specifying 80% of what.

When you can't dash

  • While swimming in water
  • While you're stunned
  • While executing a move

The Skull Guitar propulsion bug

A well-known bug among PvP players: if you chain a Skull Guitar M1 and a jump with dash at exactly the same time, you cover a distance far greater than normal. It works especially well when you're in a fling state.

  1. Use a knockback move, for example Yama's [Z] or Sanguine Art's [Z], to propel yourself.
  2. Trigger the bug immediately after.
  3. Orient your body upward by aiming the move vertically: you then traverse a long distance and can surprise an opponent.

With Cyborg V4 (Energy Control), the distance obtained is even greater.

Cosmetic details and history

  • The particles left on the ground after each dash take on the skin color of your Roblox avatar. Exception: the Kitsune tail counter from 2 onward.
  • With guns and certain other equipped weapons, the dash animation doesn't display, but the dash still works.
  • Update 1: dash is introduced to the game.
  • Update 17.3: dashes slightly shortened in safe zones, animation improved.
  • Update 17.3.5: minor visual overhaul of the trail.
