The Trial of Flames is the awakening trial for the
Draco race up to V4. It breaks the mold of other trials: not the
Temple of Time, not another race to gather, not a death match, not a full moon, and most importantly only one player at a time. Everything happens between
Hydra Island, which must be frozen, and a
Prehistoric Island, in a parkour room where lava rises at regular intervals. You have 5 minutes to place three relics.
How to get it
First raise 500
Mastery on
Dragon Talon,
Dragonheart and
Dragonstorm. Then defeat the
Leviathan and place the
Leviathan Heart in the cove of Hydra Island, in front of the waterfall: the island freezes.
Light the three lanterns near the
Dojo Vault, pass through the statue room and interact with the invisible force in the center, then complete the
Volcano Event on a Prehistoric Island and talk to the
Statue in the cave to start the trial.
Prerequisites
| Condition | Detail |
|---|---|
| Mastery | 500 on Dragon Talon, Dragonheart and Dragonstorm |
| Temple of Time | Not necessary, unlike other trials |
| Other races | No other race required |
| Players | Solo only, the trial cannot be done with multiple people |
These three Masterys are the real entry wall. The rest of the journey is long but doesn't require any particular stat.
Step 1: Freeze Hydra Island
- Defeat the Leviathan and get the Leviathan Heart.
- Take the heart to the cove of Hydra Island, in front of the waterfall.
- The island freezes: it now displays as "
Freezing Hydra Island", becomes covered in fog and snow, in an atmosphere close to the
Frozen Dimension. - Then interact with the three lanterns near the Dojo Vault to open the gate.
- Important trap: if you dealt no damage to the Leviathan, if you die, or if you disconnect, you won't be able to light the lanterns.
Step 2: The Dojo Vault
The open gate leads to a small corridor that opens into a large dark room filled with statues, with the Draco race symbol on the ground. Interact with the invisible force in the center of the room: this is what unlocks the next step.
Step 3: The Prehistoric Island
- Complete the Volcano Event on a Prehistoric Island.
- Enter the cave and talk to the Statue: the trial starts.
- Good to know: you're not required to have participated in the Volcano Event yourself. If someone already completed it on the island, you just need to arrive there.
- On the other hand, each Prehistoric Island only supports one successful trial. If another player already completed their trial on it, you'll need to find another one.
The trial itself
You must recover three relics and place them on three extractors located in the upper room of the map, in 5 minutes maximum.
- At regular intervals, the lava rises for a few seconds. Stay still for a few moments to generate a shield that protects you: this shield comes from the relics and only activates if you don't move.
- If the timer reaches 0:00, it's a failure, and you must find another Prehistoric Island to retry.
- The room layout may change during the trial, apparently when you place a relic on an altar or when you collect a new one.
- Once all three relics are placed, the circular magical door of the room reopens: pass through it.
- You are teleported to the
Dragon Dojo, where an Interact button appears on the
Flames of Hearth. A cutscene plays, then you replace the embers to obtain or improve Draco awakening.
The lava rises faster and faster
Each ember obtained makes the lava rise more frequently. The rhythm depends on your trial number:
| Tier | Interval between two rises |
|---|---|
| Trial 1 | 60 s |
| Trial 2 | 50 s |
| Trial 3 | 40 s |
| Trial 4 | 40 s |
| Trial 5 | 40 s |
Note: the Fandom text announces a rise "every minute", which its own table contradicts starting with the second tier. Trust the table.
Tips that save time
- Do it alone, or with people you trust: only one person can enter the trial.
- Private server: quieter for raising 500 Mastery and occupying the Prehistoric Island, without bounty hunters or cheaters to block you.
Suspicious Growth Potion: big flight boost, very useful on the parkour.- Speed accessories, particularly the
Pilot Helmet: flying from platform to platform before your flight ends becomes much easier.
Magma Fruit: you no longer take damage from lava flowing down the walls.
Gravity Fruit: the move [F] lets you enter the trial on the rock and fly freely, which greatly simplifies the trial.- From the second trial onwards, activate your Draco awakening before entering to benefit from a huge flight boost from the start. To do this, ask friends, or use
Summon Sea Beast if you have more than 10M
Bounty or Honor. - Typical route: grab the nearest relic, reach the first chain, climb to where it attaches to the wall, then fly toward the next chain. Don't hesitate to jump off a cliff then onto the chain. Account for less than a minute per relic, depending on your trial number.
Details and curiosities
- Click to Move is disabled in the room, because of a glitch that allowed bypassing all the parkour.
- This is the first and, so far, the only race awakening trial that requires neither multiple players, nor a death match phase, nor a full moon.
- The true soundtrack of the trial is Curious Shadows by John August Pregler, but we often hear Magmatic Antiquity instead, the theme of the active Prehistoric Island.
- If you manage to exit the trial, you land on a statue very close to those in the relic zone, but much larger.
Our take
The longest awakening to unlock in the game, but once you know the route, the trial itself is manageable with speed and a bit of anticipation.
