Fishman Captains are level 1800 enemies at Floating Turtle in Third Sea, right next to Fishman Raiders. They use the old Trident: [Z] Trident Throw when you're far, [X] Water Pulse when you're close. The first is dodgeable with Instinct, the second breaks Instinct. They're more profitable to farm than Raiders, simply because they're more grouped together.

How to get it

At Floating Turtle (Third Sea), near Fishman Raiders. There are 6 of them and they respawn every 25 seconds.

Small inconsistency between Fandom pages: the Fishman Captain page lists 75,000,000 EXP for this quest, while the Floating Turtle page shows 75,500,000. The 15,000 Beli, however, are identical on both sides.

What it drops

  • Around 1,000 Beli per kill
  • Around 89,000 EXP per kill
  • Possible drop: Fish Tail

How it fights

They fight with the old Trident, and choose their move based on distance:

  • [Z] Trident Throw when you're far from them;
  • [X] Water Pulse when you're in close.
  • No Aura: your Elemental immunity activates at Lv. 1868 according to the source's infobox.
  • 17,700 HP, a base ATK of 1,749 reduced to 1,239 in practice. It hurts.

How to farm them properly

  • The simplest option remains Awakened Buddha or Awakened Magma, which the source explicitly recommends.
  • Trident Throw is dodgeable with Instinct, which gives you a real advantage at range.
  • Be careful though: Water Pulse breaks Instinct. Don't stick to them relying on your automatic dodge.
  • If you're underleveled, equip Swan Glasses and Leviathan Shield to take the hit.
  • They're more efficient to farm than Fishman Raiders, because they're closer together.

Strengths and weaknesses

  • Two complementary moves: Trident Throw at range, Water Pulse in close
  • Water Pulse breaks Instinct, your automatic dodge won't save you up close
  • 17,700 HP and a real ATK of 1,239, they hit hard for the area
  • No Aura: Elemental immunity active from Lv. 1868

  • Grouped together, so faster to chain than Fishman Raiders
