Lightning Bolt is a rare material that appeared with Update 30, tied to the
First Sea overhaul. You knock it out of a rare storm cloud circling the
Skylands, then hand it to the
Mad Scientist, who asks for it before selling the
Electric fighting style.
How to get it
The Lightning Bolt drops from a rare storm cloud at the Skylands, in the First Sea.
- Start from the dock island and work your way up island by island, watching the sky. Storm clouds cycle around the perimeter of the islands, up to the ones linked by the bridges. None spawn in the
Upper Skylands. - Spot the one flashing dark grey. It is not there permanently.
- Break it with AoE abilities, until it is chopped down to its smallest piece.
- Hit it once more: the Lightning Bolt drops.
Since September 29, 2026, the material page asks for a move with
Destructible Physics, while the
Island Secrets page still says any attack works. If your attack goes through the cloud without doing anything, switch to a move that breaks the scenery.
In-game description: "Raw current pulled out of a charged storm cloud. The Mad Scientist wants one."
What it does
Obtaining the Electric fighting style
What it is used for
The Mad Scientist asks for it before selling you the Electric fighting style, which still costs 500,000 Beli. He stands at the Skylands, on your left when you arrive by the docks, behind a rock on the lowest island.
One is enough: the Mad Scientist, Electric and Island Secrets pages all speak of a single Lightning Bolt. Handing it over also completes the Skylands island secret Missing Lightning Bolt, worth 5 secret levels.
You can store up to 99 of them.
What remains to be clarified
The spawn rate of the storm clouds is not documented.
The source does not say either whether the Mad Scientist at
Hot and Cold and the one at
Castle on the Sea take the Lightning Bolt. When in doubt, hand it to the one at the Skylands.

- The material page now locates the storm clouds: around the perimeter of the islands, from the dock island to the ones linked by the bridges, never in the Upper Skylands. It asks for a move with Destructible Physics, where the Island Secrets page says any attack.
- The Mad Scientist asks for a single Lightning Bolt.
